Harrisburg Hunters' and Anglers' Association

BB Gun Riflemen Team Welcomes New Shooters

Important Information about Joining Our Team...

We are excited to welcome you and your child(ren) to the safety class of the Harrisburg Hunters' and Anglers' BB Gun Riflemen Team. Daisy created the current curriculum in 2013 and we are happy to not only share this with your shooter, but also the NRA 5-Meter BB Gun Rule Book. Items in the list with an asterisk (*) are detailed in the Notes section near the bottom of this page. Below that are sample graphics for items mentioned. Make sure you complete the registration form by clicking the button at the bottom of the page, after seeing what is needed during the year.

Please bring the following starting the first safety class (3rd Wednesday of October):

  • 3-ring binder, strongly recommended to have these features:

    • 1-1/2" spine

    • View cover (clear cover that allows you to slide in a sheet of paper; the cover sheet is included in the shooter's initial packet during safety class)

    • Pockets on inside front cover

  • Safety glasses*

  • Binoculars*
  • 5 gallon bucket with seat*

You may be asking,

"Parents? Why do I need these items?"

This course/team is a foundation for the future. To assure success, shooters are not alone on the line. They have a coach with them every step of the way. Our volunteer "staff" cannot be with everyone at once, so parents are line coaches. We'll explain this in more detail during safety class.

Changes are coming for the 2022-2023 season!

* Safety glasses are not necessary if prescription glasses are worn. Shooting glasses with adjustable lenses are not permitted at the BB Gun level.

* Tabbed Dividers (can be found at any office/school supply store and even at Dollar Tree). The tabs should be labeled in this order:

  1. Lessons (Safety Class)

  2. NRA Rule Book/Notes/Other

  3. Handouts

  4. Study Guides

  5. Tests

* Binoculars should allow you to see up close at 5 meters (16 feet, 4-3/4 inches). The ones labeled 5x30 or better are a good choice. The first number is the distance to the focal point; the second is the diameter of the front lens, in millimeters. 10x30 would enlarge the bull a little more.

* The 5-gallon bucket with seat is not required; however, it beats sitting on the ground. A plus to this type of seat is being able to store all your stuff inside the bucket, meaning all supplies will be remembered.

Pencils, highlighters, whiteboards, and dry erase markers are available during each class. (Donations of these items are always welcome.)
